FAQ

An EAN (European Article Numbering) code is a sequence of 18 digits starting with '54'. In the context of energy sharing, it is a unique identifier for an energy supply point (electric meter).

  • on your electricity bill (at the top of the 1st page);
  • via the customer area of your energy supplier;
  • by contacting your network operator.

The electric meter has a different number from the EAN. It is composed of 8 or 10 digits and often preceded by the mention N° or "1SAG".

  • It is displayed on your electric meter, usually near the barcode.
  • It is usually indicated on the energy bill, often on the second page or in the technical information section.
  • If you have an online customer account (MyORES for example), the meter number is often accessible in the "meter data" or "your consumption" section..

A mechanical meter generally has a rolling digit display (small numbered wheels visible behind a glass pane) and, very often, a metal disc that rotates to indicate the instantaneous consumption. The assembly is purely mechanical, without a digital screen, and it requires manual recording.

A smart or communicating meter displays the indexes on a small digital screen, without a visible rotating disc. It is fully electronic, can transmit data remotely and receive orders from the network manager

  • Check on your invoice or your online customer space.
  • If your meter says "digital meter" or displays your indexes on a screen, it is communicating.
  • When in doubt, contact your network operator.

The metering regime 3 or SMR3 is a protocol for smart meters to measure your energy consumption and production per quarter hour. This regime is essential to participate in energy sharing.

  1. Check your meter: You must first have a smart meter.

  2. Contact your energy supplier: Ask them to activate regime 3 for you. Your supplier must make this request if you participate in an energy sharing scheme, wish to receive monthly bills or wish to benefit from dynamic rates.

  3. Wait for confirmation: Your supplier will send you the request made to the network manager. You will subsequently receive a confirmation that regime 3 has been successfully activated.

The quarter-hourly regime will allow you to benefit from detailed information about your energy consumption and share it with other people.
